Developing People. Strengthening Systems. Delivering Results.
For more than 40 years, John Branch has helped organizations improve quality systems, develop supplier capabilities, solve complex problems, and create sustainable improvement through True Root Cause thinking.
Clients, colleagues, suppliers, and quality professionals consistently recognize John's ability to combine technical expertise, practical business judgment, and genuine mentorship to deliver measurable results.
“I had the privilege of working closely with John Branch during an important stage of my professional development. Our collaboration went far beyond a traditional working relationship. It became a meaningful learning experience built on mutual respect, trust, professional integrity, and a shared commitment to improving quality.
John brings more than 40 years of experience in the quality profession, and the depth of that experience is evident in the way he approaches people, processes, and complex business challenges. What distinguishes him is not only his technical knowledge, but also his ability to turn experience into practical guidance that others can understand and apply. He does not simply identify what is wrong; he helps people understand why it happened, what allowed it to happen, and what must change to prevent it from happening again.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned from John is that quality is not limited to reacting to defects, managing corrective actions, or completing required documentation. True quality leadership means protecting the customer, understanding risk, identifying the real root cause, and strengthening the system so that improvement can be sustained. He taught me to look beyond the immediate symptom and examine the complete relationship between the problem, its cause, the point of escape, the effectiveness of existing controls, and the evidence required to verify that corrective actions are working.
John consistently encouraged disciplined, evidence-based thinking. Through his guidance, I learned to ask better questions: What changed? What objective evidence supports the conclusion? Has the actual cause been validated? Does the corrective action eliminate the cause, or does it merely improve detection? How will recurrence be prevented? These questions became an important part of my own professional approach and helped me develop stronger judgment when reviewing supplier issues, process risks, and improvement plans.
His mentoring style was practical and highly effective. Rather than simply providing answers, he encouraged me to think critically, challenge assumptions, consider different perspectives, and arrive at conclusions supported by facts. He shared his knowledge generously, while also expecting accountability, preparation, and thoughtful decision-making. Even when his feedback was direct, it was delivered with the purpose of strengthening the work, developing the individual, and achieving a better result.
I also learned from John that professional rigor must be balanced with sound business judgment. Not every issue requires the same response. Some situations demand firm escalation and immediate action, while others are best resolved through a practical and proportionate approach. He helped me understand how to consider customer risk, operational impact, cost, urgency, and long-term consequences before making a decision. This balance between technical discipline and business awareness has had a lasting influence on my career.
Another important part of his influence was his approach to supplier quality and development. He taught me that working with suppliers is not simply about identifying failures or demanding compliance. Sustainable improvement requires clear expectations, structured problem-solving, accountability, effective follow-up, and the willingness to help suppliers strengthen their own capabilities. His perspective moved supplier quality beyond inspection and containment toward prevention, ownership, and continuous improvement.
John also demonstrated confidence in my professional growth. Over time, he allowed me to assume greater responsibility, lead discussions, coordinate supplier actions, present recommendations, and take ownership of important decisions. That trust was both encouraging and challenging. It helped me become more independent, more disciplined in my thinking, and more confident in my ability to lead quality initiatives responsibly.
On a personal level, I have always appreciated his cordiality, openness, and willingness to remain available for advice. His conduct reflected strong professional ethics: respect for people, honesty in communication, responsibility for decisions, and a sincere commitment to doing what is right for the customer and the organization. He showed that high standards and respectful treatment are not competing values; they are both essential elements of effective leadership.
I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside John. Many of the principles and habits I apply today were strengthened through our conversations, shared challenges, and collaborative problem-solving. His positive influence helped me grow from a primarily technical contributor into a more strategic quality professional—one who considers systems, risks, people, evidence, and long-term results.
John’s professional legacy is not defined only by the problems he solved or the improvements he led. It is also reflected in the people he influenced, the capabilities he helped develop, and the standards of integrity and disciplined thinking he passed on to others. Working with him has been one of the most valuable experiences of my career, and I will always regard his guidance, experience, and friendship with deep professional respect and genuine gratitude.”

Supplier Quality Engineering Coordinator
“I have had the pleasure of working for and with John Branch for the past 4 years. His knowledge of quality systems and what is needed with how the standard is written is unmatched. His attention to detail and specifics when creating documents and standards is what sets him apart from the rest. He gains knowledge of processes and systems very quickly. He is a tremendous resource in preparing for and during external audits. Where is knowledge of the standards shines through. This transitions through to problem solving where he asks the hard questions to help drive to root cause. He doesn’t accept answers that don’t provide the right support for true root cause. He holds the same standards for external supplier root cause investigations as he does internal process corrective actions. He expects answers from suppliers and holds them accountable for their product and follows through with suppliers and a weekly basis if needed. He doesn’t accept answers that doesn’t drive to a true root cause. Overall, John is a firm and effective leader, but at the same time very fair and accepts discussions when others may believe something differently than he does.”

The summer of 2010 I worked with John at Qingdao P&B Co., Ltd - a Chinese manufacture for Plastics and Paper Packaging for the foodservice, family care and personal care industries. I knew John before arriving to the factory and heard that he was very instrumental in creating the new change with P&B's Quality platform. From my experience working with P&B as an extention to the factory at our Los Angeles office I have seen a tremendous improvement with overall process's related to Quality with a more regimented direction by John.
Part of my reason for going to P&B was to understand the processes better so that I could improve my knowledge which in turn would help me better represent P&B in the US. I spent much time with John, he explained to me in great detail many of the processes and how they operate, but the thing I remember most about John is the Six Sigma team he lead in the thermal forming area. After numerous attempts from Engineers with several outside consultants that could not determine or pin-point the cause of the issue, John applied his knowledge of Six Sigma by validating the Gauge Equipment, cross sectional sample data retrieval and final anaylsis reports that determined the issue were related to a mechanical error and not material, enviroment nor man error. Once the repairs take place the process will be fully optimized and the machine in questioned will begin to pay off for the factory with more efficient production runs with less scrap material with a consistant quality result. I really was impressed with the time I spent at P&B and as well with John.

During the major restructuring of the Federal Mogul Ignition manufacturing, the closure of the main European production site in the UK and the transfer of production to sites in the US and Mexico,I had the pleasure of working closely with John. This major project demanded the validation of the overseas plants by the European OE's,which were numerous, and in this John was of decisive help.He showed a great understanding of the all the necessary systems as well as the individual needs and requirements of the different customers. This ensured that the transfer was a success. His team leadership was vital in this project.
